Richa Chadha used her Instagram Stories to reply to discussions regarding festival attendees. She is this year's producer at the 76th Cannes Film Festival with her husband, actor Ali Fazal. She also mentioned how many people were discussing clothes on the red carpet. People were eager to be in Cannes, so she begged them not to “s**t on anyone.”
“There's a lot of chatter on SM (social media) about Cannes, fashion, film, etc.,” Richa remarked on her Instagram Stories after posting old photos from her 2015 trip to Cannes. Just wanted to say, please don't s**t on anybody. The people who are praising the companies who are sending their influencers here—brands, designers, and alcohol labels—seem happy to be there. It's a fantastic platform for marketing, no? Leave them alone. The majority of individuals will declare that they are at the red carpet but won't name the movie. They're not here with or for a film, so why?
Richa went Cannes in 2015 alongside Vicky Kaushal, Neeraj Ghaywan, and the rest of the cast and crew of Masaan. When Masaan made its Cannes debut in the Un Certain Regard Section, it won two honours.
Having said that, she said, “If you are so fortunate to work on a film that is selected for the @festivaldecannes, it's the BEST feeling in the world. No matter what anybody claims, it is a film festival. There is perhaps no better feeling of happiness and fulfilment for an artist than a 7-minute standing ovation at the Grand Palais. That's me after crying a lot—it was exhausting.
